🎓 FAFSA Facts vs. Myths—What You Really Need to Know

  • The FAFSA® application is opening soon (Oct 1st), and now’s the perfect time to separate fact from fiction. To help you feel confident and ready, Going Merry has created a few resources to help guide you through the process. 

Below you’ll find three resources to help prepare you for completing the application.

LPHS FINANCIAL AID NIGHT

October 14, 2025 at 5:30 pm in the LPHS cafeteria. This presentation is geared towards seniors and their families. Experts from the PNW Office of Financial Aid will cover topics addressing:

  • Payment Options
  • Types of Financial Aid
  • Sources of Financial Aid
  • Applying for Financial Aid (FAFSA)
  • Financial Aid Process
  • Steps to Financial Aid Success

SCHOLARSHIPS: Please check Naviance for updated information on scholarships.

IMPORTANT FOR SENIORS: Please request your transcripts in Naviance so we can send to the college you have chosen. Most college applications open after July 31st. If you are using the common app, do not complete it until Aug. 1st and remember to match Naviance with your common app. Counselors will need time to process transcripts, so please allow 2- 3 weeks.

NCAA Reminders: Visit the High School Portal to upload final transcripts with proof of graduation to your student's Eligibility Center account. If you have additional semesters included since the last upload, continue to upload these transcripts. Also, please upload four-semester and six-semester transcripts so that the Eligibility Center may complete preliminary reviews.

The LPHS Alumni Scholarship will be available on the Unity Foundation website. Please check their site for this information.

LPHS is utilizing Naviance, a comprehensive college, career and life readiness solution (CCLR) platform that helps districts and schools align student strengths and interests to postsecondary goals to improve student outcomes and connect learning to life. Naviance consists of a platform where students can explore and manage information about college, career and life readiness. To login, students will access their Clever accounts and click on Naviance.

HIGH SCHOOL FRESHMAN, SOPHOMORES, AND JUNIORS -Taking Ivy Tech courses while in high school gives you the opportunity to explore future careers and discover your passion while earning college credit! You may even have the ability to complete the Indiana College Core or earn an associate degree before you graduate high school, saving you time and money.

Indiana College Core The Indiana College Core ensures that your 30 hours of general education credit transfers between public colleges and universities. By completing this credential with Ivy Tech while you’re still in high school, you can guarantee that most, if not all, of your core college classes will already be completed by the time you begin college, regardless of what school you choose to attend. Associate Degree By working hard to earn your associate degree in high school, you will be ready to transition directly into the workforce and begin a fulfilling career after graduation, or you can seamlessly transfer to a four-year college or university and earn your bachelor’s degree in only two years, saving you thousands of dollars. Ivy Tech has 20+ associate degrees that qualify for guaranteed admission to many other four-year institutions around the state.
